Prevent Child Abuse Missouri, a program of Missouri KidsFirst will be gathering at the Capitol on Wednesday, April 13th for the 2nd Annual Pinwheels for Prevention Community Pinwheel Garden. The Ceremony will begin at Noon on the south lawn of the Capitol.

Cost of Injury Reports Available on CDC Website

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Injury Center is pleased to announce the release of the new WISQARS™ (Web-based Injury Statistics Query and Reporting System) Cost of Injury Reports. WISQARS™ data can be used to learn more about the public health and economic burden associated with unintentional injury and violence-related injury in the United States. The Cost of Injury Reports module provides cost estimates for injury deaths, hospitalizations, and emergency department visits where the patient was treated and released.

The amount the public will pay to prevent the death of a child may be twice that of an adult, according to a new University of Georgia study that asked 199 individuals how much they would pay to prevent a death from child abuse or neglect. Read more.

The site makes the latest Child Welfare Outcomes data available for you to view in a variety of ways according to your needs. Child Welfare Outcomes data for 2006 through 2009 are currently available.
