The Pinwheels for Prevention™ campaign puts a new spin on prevention in a effort to change the way Missourians think about prevention, focusing on community activities and public policies that prioritize prevention right from the start to make sure child abuse and neglect never occur.
Why a pinwheel? As the new symbol for child abuse prevention, the pinwheel represents hope, health and happiness – what we all desire for the children we know and love, and for all children everywhere. The pinwheel is a happy and uplifting symbol of childhood and represents our efforts to ensure the healthy development of children, while recognizing that child development is a building block for community development and economic development.
