January 9, 2017 was a big day in Missouri with the inauguration of Eric Greitens. My oldest daughter begged and pleaded with me to take her to the Inaugural Ball, and I agreed. It was a historic event, and I loved sharing it with her. (Even if that also meant carrying her two purses by the end of the night.)

The Capitol building was lit up on the outside and full of celebration inside. We had so much fun visiting with legislators and other allies whom I’ve worked with for many years now to make our state safer for children. Estella loved all the beautiful dresses and the cupcakes.

In his inaugural address, Governor Greitens spoke of justice for abused children, and I have heard from many people who believe he will make our state’s children a priority while he is in office. I am so excited about the opportunity to have a strong relationship with the Governor and the potential that comes from investment at the highest levels of the Executive Branch.
